Politics in the Pub Perth: Can Western Australia afford the mining boom?

Politics in the Pub Perth
Can Western Australia afford the mining boom?
The impact of the mining industry on climate change, tourism and interest rates The Western Australia mining industry is getting bigger but is its growth really benefiting the rest of the State? Does a bigger mining industry deliver more pain or big gains to the broader economy?
The Australia Institute's Executive Director Dr Richard Denniss and Greens MLC Robin Chapple will examine how increasing world demand for our resources has driven down demand for tourism, made mortgages more expensive for millions of Australians and made achieving greenhouse gas emission reduction targets that much harder. They will also discuss the way fly-in-fly-out workforces exacerbate the difference between the winners and losers. Chaired by Elizabeth Hulm, Communist Party of Australia, CPA
